Mattress encasements are the most widely recommended, sold and used measure for reducing exposure to allergens. So why don't we sell them?

Hundreds of thousands of asthma and allergy sufferers every year learn about the benefits of allergen reduction from their doctors or a friend and very often the first, and only step they take is to encase their mattress. It is an attractively simple and inexpensive step.

The problem is that there is growing evidence that encasing mattresses as an only step does not yield results. To read some recent studies on this see our research section.

And so, disappointed with the lack of results, these sufferers give up on avoidance altogether, missing out on what could be very important benefits.

As a company dedicated to allergen reduction in the home, that is driven by knowledge and research, we have decided to stop selling mattress covers. We feel that while this is a quick and easy business for us, it does not help the public, and may, by reducing faith in allergen avoidance, actually be harmful.
